Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and Vasil Gedevanishvili the head of ANRS met IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano. The theme of the meeting was development of co-operation.
In the framework of cooperation with International Agency, nuclear and radiation safety in Georgia will be developed and human and environment protection from harmful radiation will get more effective.

Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia attended the project on “radioactive waste management in Georgia” held in The National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.
The purpose of the project financially supported by The European Union and The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority is to improve radioactive waste management, in the framework of which the modern infrastructure of radioactive waste management is to be established.

IAEA mission has come to the end in Georgia. The purpose of Mission was to study the safety regulatory infrastructure and its compliance with international standards.
The reforms taken over the last years in the field of nuclear and radiation safety were positively evaluated by the Mission and the importance of establishing new regulatory system was emphasized.

LEPL Agency of Nuclear and Radiation Safety within International Atomic Energy Agency technical cooperation project at November 17, 2017 has received radiation monitoring equipment (system)  produced by BERTHOLD. The system will be installed at the area of Centralized Storage Facility (CSF) and Saakadze radioactive waste disposal site.
