08.05.2026

The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency held a working meeting with representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The meeting was conducted as part of the preparatory process for the Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) mission on the nuclear and radiation safety regulatory system, scheduled for 2027.

The IRRS mission involves assessing the country’s nuclear and radiation safety system in accordance with international standards. In this process, particular importance is given to Georgia’s self-assessment, which will be carried out with the assistance of a specialized software system.

During the meetings, IAEA experts introduced the Georgian side to the mission’s main objectives, working procedures, and the international standards according to which the country’s regulatory system will be evaluated.

As part of the visit, practical training sessions were conducted, during which participants received detailed information on the use of the electronic self-assessment program, as well as their rights and responsibilities.

After the self-assessment is completed, the prepared report will be submitted to the International Atomic Energy Agency, which will contribute to the effective and successful implementation of the mission planned for 2027.
