A workshop on the Technical Cooperation (TC) Programmes is being held at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna from 23 to 27 February this year.
Participating in the workshop are Nino Utiashvili, Head of the LEPL Agency of Nuclear and Radiation Safety, and Vladimer Tvaliashvili, Coordinator of the national project (GEO9020).
Within the framework of the meeting, parallel sessions are scheduled with the International Atomic Energy Agency’s project management officers (PMO) and technical officers (TO), where issues related to the national project are discussed.
It is noteworthy that, starting from 2026, Georgia has been approved for three new national projects supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency. These projects are:
• GEO9020 4 year project - Enhancing Safety and National Capacity for Radioactive Waste Management
• GEO5002 3 year project - Strengthening Laboratory Analytical Capacity for Monitoring Food Contaminants
• GEO9021 4 year project Strengthening National Regulatory Infrastructure for Radiation Safety
The total budget of the national projects amounts to EUR 1.5 million.
