The Ministry shall grant the license for nuclear and radiation activity as laid down by the Law of Georgia on Licenses and Permits. The license shall be issued for an indefinite period of time.
The licence for nuclear and radiation activity shall be granted for the following activities:

- designing a high risk nuclear and radiation facility;
- operation of a high risk nuclear and radiation facility;
- removal from service and decommissioning of a high risk nuclear and radiation facility;
- production (preparation), possession, temporary storage, use and sale of radioactive materials;
- using an ionising radiation generator for medical purposes;
- using a source of ionising radiation for medical (therapeutic) purposes;
- using radioactive substances (radiopharmaceuticals) for medical diagnostics;
- using radioactive substances (radiopharmaceuticals) for medical treatment;
- using an ionising radiation generator and/or radioactive substances for service delivery;
- using an ionising radiation generator for industrial purposes;
- using a source of ionising radiation for industrial purposes;
- using an ionising radiation generator for research and education purposes;
- using a source of ionising radiation for research and education purposes;
- maintenance and repair of an ionising radiation generator and equipment containing radioactive material;
- transportation of nuclear materials, radioactive sources, and radioactive waste;
- conditioning, storage, and burial of radioactive sources and waste, decontamination of equipment, territory and/or depository contaminated with radioactive substances;
- preparation of containers for transportation and storage of radioactive sources and waste;
- expert and instrumental measurements, metrology, adjustment, and installation of the sources of ionising radiation.
